「MLB The Show 25」，キャリアモードに高校野球を追加。大学への進学からメジャーリーグのドラフトまで駆け抜けろ

　Sony San Diego Studioは，2025年3月18日に発売を予定している野球ゲーム「MLB The Show 25」（PS5 / Xbox Series X|S / Nintendo Switch）の1時間を超える解説動画を公開し，新たなキャリアモードを中心に紹介している。


　「MLB The Show 25」は，Sony San Diego Studioが開発を手がける「MLB The Show」シリーズ最新作だ。タイトルからも分かるとおり，MLB（メジャー・リーグ・ベースボール）の公式ライセンスを受けた作品となっている。


　今作の大きなフィーチャーとなるのが新しいキャリアモード「Road To The Show」だ。本作では，高校から大学時代を過ごし，ドラフトを経てメジャーリーグにステップアックしていくキャリアを追体験できる。高校は地域色を出した架空の4校，大学はテネシー大学など実在する8校が登場するという。


　新しいキャリアモードでは，学生時代のプレイヤーキャラクターの特徴を精密にコントロールできるようになっている。プレイ中に「チャレンジ」をこなすことでゲーム内通貨が得られ，それをピッチング，バッティング，フィールディング，パワーなどのカテゴリーに分かれたスキルに振り分けていく。


　また，進む大学によって，それぞれ育成や強化の方針，メジャーリーグとのつながりなど異なるパークスがあり，大学の選手権を最後までプレイしてドラフトに挑んだり，卒業後にマイナーリーグからスタートしたりといったことも可能なようだ。


　「MLB The Show 25」のカバーアートには，昨季11勝をマークしてナショナルリーグの新人賞を受賞したポール・スキーンズ選手，シンシナティ・レッズで20-60（20本塁打と60盗塁）を記録したエリー・デラクルーズ選手，シルバースラッガー賞やアメリカンリーグ新人賞を獲得しているボルチモア・ヘンダーソン選手といった23歳以下の有望選手が選出されている。
　今シーズンは23歳の佐々木朗希選手が，ロサンゼルス・ドジャースに入団するなど，メジャーリーグに対する話題性や注目度も高く，本作のリリースも楽しみにしておきたい。
