ActivisionとBungie Softwareは，「Destiny: The Taken King」（PS4 / PS3 / Xbox One / Xbox 360。邦題：Destiny 降り立ちし邪神）のワールドイベント「Sparrow Racing League」を，2015年12月8日から12月29日（日本時間12月9日から12月30日）まで開催すると発表した。これは，アメリカ・サンフランシスコで行われた「PlayStation Experience 2015」にてアナウンスされたもので，最新情報やトレイラーも公開されている。
「Sparrow Racing League」は，拡張コンテンツ「The Taking King」の所有者であれば誰でも参加できる新規イベントで，ゲーム内のNPCアマンダ・ホリデーが主催するレース大会という設定で，最大6人のプレイヤーがSparrowにまたがってその腕を競い合うことになる。ちなみに，参加者には，エバーバース貿易会社から機体と同じカラーにデザインできる特別仕様のスーツが用意されるとのこと。
そのほかにも，BMXのように空中でさまざまなムーブを繰り出したり，MOBが銃撃などで妨害してきたりと，なかなかエキサイティングな内容になりそうで，ファンからの評価が高ければゲームモードとして正式に採用するか検討するとのこと。なお，「Sparrow Racing League」の開催期間中に，PS3/PS4版限定で配信されるクエストをこなすと，特別仕様のSparrowが貰えるので，The Taken Kingを導入している人は，積極的に参加してみよう。
